Privacy Policy
How Afridence collects, uses, and protects your information.
This policy explains what personal data Afridence collects — from research participants, clients, and website visitors — why we collect it, how it is protected, and the rights you have over it. Afridence handles personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and internationally recognised data protection standards.
1. Who This Policy Covers
This policy applies to Verified Participants who register on the Afridence platform, Clients and their authorised users who access project dashboards, and visitors to the Afridence website.
2. What We Collect
From participants: name, contact details, demographic information (age range, gender, education, occupation, income bracket, household composition), address, a utility bill or similar document for address verification, and responses to research studies.
From clients: name, organisation, role, contact details, and project-related communications.
From website visitors: information submitted through contact or enquiry forms, and standard technical data such as browser type and IP address collected automatically by any website.
3. Why We Collect It
To verify participant identity and eligibility for research studies; to match participants to relevant research opportunities; to administer payments owed for completed studies; to deliver research services to clients, including project dashboards and reporting; to respond to enquiries; and to maintain the security and integrity of the platform.
4. How Your Data Is Used in Research
When a participant takes part in a study, their responses may be shared with the client who commissioned that study, in anonymised or aggregated form, unless a specific study's terms state otherwise and the participant separately consents to that study.
Afridence does not sell personal data to third parties.
5. Data Storage and Security
Personal data is stored using encrypted, access-controlled infrastructure. Documents submitted for identity verification (such as utility bills) are stored in a private, restricted-access location and are never made publicly accessible. Access to personal data is limited to authorised Afridence personnel who require it to perform their role.
6. How Long We Keep Data
Afridence retains personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, to comply with legal or contractual obligations, or until a participant requests deletion in accordance with their rights below.
7. Your Rights
You may request to review, correct, or delete your personal information, or withdraw from the Verified Participant pool, at any time by contacting Afridence. Withdrawing does not affect payment already owed for studies you have completed.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Afridence platform uses strictly necessary cookies — small pieces of data stored in your browser — to keep you securely logged in and to protect the account-recovery process (such as password reset and account invitation links). Afridence does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Because these cookies are strictly necessary for the platform to function securely, disabling them will prevent you from logging in or completing account recovery.
9. Changes to This Policy
Afridence may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with an updated revision date on this page.
10. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data can be directed to Afridence via the contact page.
